OUR STAFFChris Ward - B.App.Sc. (Physio) M.A.P.A Chris graduated from La Trobe University in 1991 and has worked at Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic since 1995. He became a partner in 2000. Chris was a physiotherapist for the Hawthorn Football Club from 1995 to 2004. Chris' experience with professional sports people and their injuries extends to his patients at HPC. He has an interest in general sporting injuries and their quick recovery and return to play. He also has an interest in post-operative rehabilitation, in particular, knee reconstruction and knee replacements. Chris is a long-standing member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Sports Physio Special Interest Group. Charlie Schall-Riaucour - B.Physio. (Hons) M.A.P.A Charlie graduated with Honors in a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Melbourne University in 1996. This was in addition to his Degree in Physical Education and a post graduate Diploma in Exercise for Rehabilitation. Charlie was involved with the Hawthorn Football Club from 1990 to 2004 assisting in injury rehabilitation and providing physiotherapy services. He now devotes his time between HPC and Vimy House Private Hospital where he provides physio services for many of Melbourne's leading orthopaedic surgeons. His well rounded knowledge in all sporting injuries, injury rehabilitation and experience with elite sports has been invaluable to HPC. Charlie is a long-standing member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Mark Fotheringham - B.Physio. M.A.P.A Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in 2005. He has worked in private practice physiotherapy since then, moving to Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic at the beginning of 2007. Mark has been involved in Aussie Rules Football as a player and physiotherapist at local EFL level and was the physiotherapist for the under 23 representative VFL football team in 2006. Mark has also developed the clinical Pilates program at HPC. In conjunction with other specialists, he is currently generating a screening program to predict those at risk of non impact lower limb injuries and in particular anterior cruciate ligament injuries in the knee. He is able to do this through knowledge connecting repetitive tendon, muscle and overuse injuries with a particular persons neuro-muscular control. Mark is also involved at the clinic in both the assessment and treatment of all musculo-skeletal injuries along with one-on-one and one-on-two clinical Pilates treatments. Mark is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Richard Webber - B.App.Sc. (Physio) M.A.P.A Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy from La Trobe University (Lincoln Institute) in 1989. Having spent a year at the now retired Fairfield Hospital, he began practicing at Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic, before leaving for London in 1995. There he worked at an Australian owned private practice in the renowned Harley Street for the next 10 years, treating an international clientele (including heads of state and royalty!) and developing a specific focus on both chronic spinal pain and post-surgical rehabilitation. Richard also became consultant physiotherapist to 2 West End theatre producers, where he treated a wide range of performance related injuries, an interest he maintains in Melbourne. Whilst in London he also created the technical illustrations for a singer's textbook, combining his physiotherapy with his artistic 'other life'. On returning to Melbourne in 2007, Richard again became part of the team at HPC, to find the best aspects of the clinic still in place, including Charlie's hair (with only a few grey hairs). Richard is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Nicole Barnes - B.Physio. Born and bred in Melbourne, Nicole completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University in 2004. Nicole gained 3 years of valuable experience at the start of her career working in aged care, rehabilitation and also doing some acute hospital work around Melbourne. She then moved to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy working at a clinic in Camberwell, where she developed and ran their extensive pilates program. Nicole also developed specialised exercise classes for pre and post natal women focusing on pelvic floor and back care, as well as conducting regular education sessions at Maternal and Child health centres on the importance of exercise. Nicole joined our team in 2009 and divides her time between HPC and Vimy House Private Hospital. At the hospital, Nicole leads our research and is currently collecting data to evaluate the effectiveness of pre-habilitation prior to joint replacement surgery. Whilst at the clinic, she has a strong focus on following patients from Vimy hospital through their post op rehabilitation. Nicole also conducts pilates at the clinic and still has a strong interest in women's health physiotherapy. Qianer Chen – B.Physio (Hons) Qianer graduated from Melbourne University with Honors. She gained her orthopaedic experience at inpatient and outpatient settings in hospitals across Melbourne. Qianer currently works both at Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic and Vimy House Private Hospital where she sees a multitude if different surgical patients. Her areas of interest are post operative rehabilitation and return to sport and work after shoulder, knee and hip surgeries. She has been involved with the pre-habilitation program at HPC which readies patients for total knee and total hip joint operations. Qianer is also involved in ongoing professional development in the area of clinical pilates, striving to ensure long term recovery from chronic spinal conditions.Christine Kearton - Practice Manager BSc (Acc), CPA, DipFP Christine, our Practice Manager has worked in Practice Management and Project Management for over 10 years. She has accounting and financial planning qualifications. Christine works part time at HPC and is responsible for HPC accounts and administration staff as well as various other day to day tasks in running the practice. Nicole Grasso - Receptionist Nicole is a full time receptionist at HPC and holds a Certificate III in Business. She is supported by a friendly team of staff who assist at reception out of normal business hours. Nicole or one of the team are available between 8am and 8pm weekdays to help you find an appointment or assist with general enquiries. |
